Every thread, drawn as a chain
Search the indexed mail and see how the matching messages link up — with a stable link back to the same chain.
Matched across subject and body.
One JSON object per message — subject, sender, date, text. These are added to the index for this run.
Nothing searched yet
Run a search and the chain diagram, its coverage note and the matching messages land here.
What happens on a search
- Any messages in the index box are added to PJ's index first.
- Your words are matched across subject and body.
- Hits are ordered by your chosen sort, and linked into a chain diagram.
Questions
Does the chain link keep working later?
Yes — each result carries a chain link that reopens the same diagram without re-running the search.
Why do results say results were capped?
Very large matches are cut to a maximum. When that happens the result marks it beside the match count, so the number you see is a floor, not a total.
Where do the coverage notes come from?
They are printed by the search itself, word for word, under the diagram and under the list — they describe what the index did and did not reach.
